Default Deep Drop jigs killing it!

I have been testing these out over the last 2 months and I can honestly say they are killers! I have caught tons of wreckfish on them on a friends boat so I decided to try it for tiles on the Voyager 2 day a few weeks ago and caught 15 golden tiles with it. On thursday I ran down to Ocean City, Maryland on my friend Jasons boat. I told Jason I was going to catch a big snowy grouper on the jig and he said I was crazy and I would just catch wreckfish. I will let the pictures do the talking! Afterwards I used the jig on the tiles in 650' and was rewarded with four tiles including two fish over 30# and a 20#.

Jigging tiles isnt easy, but it can be extremely effective and a ton of fun! I am going to be ordering more of these jigs soon. If you are interested let me know so I get enough. Price on the 360g is $13 and 500g is $15.

Amazing fishing there Mike...

I was wondering about jigging in that many FOW. Is it a cod-type action, big sweeps and falls? Do you tip those jigs with anything---bait, gulp, etc?

I have no interest in deep drop fishing unless I can jig for them!

Just like cod jigging but deeper. I exaggerate the sweep of the jig even more than when cod jigging to compensate for the extra scope in deeper water. The biggest difference between cod jiging and tile jigging other than depth is that the tiles will hit the jig on the drop, out of the mudd and in the middle of a sweep, where as codfish typically eat the jig on the drop.

I never use a teaser and I sometimes tip the jig with a small squid head or strip for the tiles, but I am moving away from any bait while jigging. For groupers I always jig unbaited

Thanks Mike, that's very helpful. If I sign up for one of these trips I'll be sure to check out your jigs!
