Default Mono at night on party boats

Been thinking about going out on a party boat at night for bass. Read that you can't use braid at night. I'm not sure what pound test Mono I should spool with considering all I've ever used is braid since getting into fishing. Any input on what you guys use would help.

For what it's worth, I like mono a lot better when bait fishing for Stripers. I think the line stretch actually works in your favor for a softer hook set.

I'd say it depends on your rod and how stretchy the mono is. I once picked up someone's rod with a deep soft bend really stretchy mono and i literally couldn't feel the fish at all! I couldn't tell if it was hooked good, swimming towards me or head shaking still hooked???. It was quite frustrating! If i was not allowed to use mono and was used to fishing braid, i would make sure a had a fairly stiff rod and either one of those mono lines they make with low stretch or maybe even straight up flourocarbon spooled.

Appreciate all the answers guys. I spooled up an older penn 320gt2 with some 30 pound mono and I am pairing it with a st croix premier. Trying my luck tonight. Thanks again
