Thumbs up Sheepshead / Gulp artificial crabs

Saw a sheepshead landed under the Long Port bridge near Ocean City. Since the bait shop had no live crabs, (killies either) I thought I’d try the Gulp fake crabs. I did….. no luck. Has anyone had success with Gulp crabs? What’s the best bait for sheepshead?

Yep... Take an hour go down to the surf with a pitchfork, rake, shovel, or even just your hands and dig up some sand fleas, and you will have the best Sheepshead bait available except for maybe fiddler crabs.... maybe.... bob

I’ll give it a try.
At night I’ve seen dozens of ghost crabs running around the beach. Do you know if ghost crabs can be an effective bait?

I would use the sand fleas.. easier to get, and probably more effective.. Not much online about using Ghost Crabs for sheepshead but one guy said he tried them and they "didn't seem to mind" them,.. I imagine any small crab bait would draw some hits from sheepshead,,, If you can get a few, try them out, but me personally I would make sure that I brought enough sand fleas for the days fishing... bob
