Default sharkin

so I have a nice 24 foot boat that i want to take out sharking this year. not to far only 20 miles out or so. I wanted to get some suggestions from the board on the min size gear you would use to go as I don't want to spend a fortune on gear but would love to tangle with a few sharks. I am not targeting anyone one thing in particular but would love to get one i could eat. any recc??

Thinking a graphite rod 6.6 60-80 rated and a canyon reel hs18

We fish shorter rods and bigger reels for sharks bc you never know when that toad thresher or beast mako is coming. Shorter sticks provide you the control and leverage to turn a big fish and the heavy drag helps shorten fight time via stand up or gunwale. These days you can certainly get away with smaller reels with high strength spectra. We fish shimano only on my fathers boat out east...tiagras to be exact. But the talicas are beasts and the tld series reels hold their own. It all comes down to preference but the shimanos are tried and true. Just my 2 cents...
