Merrill Creek Res. 5/19:
On anchor in 50 ft. of water by 7am. Dish rags are small lake trout, beach towels are big lake trout.
Got 6 dish rags today and 3 brown trout and 1 yellow perch. The one brown was a stocked broodstock around 5lbs. I think, it had a big jaw tag in it which I dropped over the side when I was releasing the trout. Pushed 10 dozen saw bellies on 5 rods using small hooks and 4 and 6lb. test. I guess it's time to retire the Damn Quick 110N, lost part of the handle. Saw a guy at the ramp, he had an 8lb. beach towel. Video.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hxu2TM77TbU

Re: Merrill Creek Res. 5/19:
Andy, don't understand why so much bait? Are you using strike guards? Or fishing with open bails? Nice fish though.

Re: Merrill Creek Res. 5/19:
Open bail. Why so much bait ?? A. I HATE running out of bait. B. I change bait so often it'll make your head spin, plus I chum. If the herring is missing scales or is swimming funny I change 'em out. Ya gotta trick those big browns, they are VERY smart !!
