Canoe jigging

I dont have a fish finder rigged just yet but thats coming soon
Found some smb and lakers casting blindly in deep water. Took it to some new spots too such as tidal raritan. Excited to have fall set in... one of these days

Going to attempt trolling for Lakers soon on Yak with JetDivers. What lures/baits did you use? Depth? TY

Those look useful, how do you rig em? for trolling I havent picked one up yet on the canoe. All I have is a 1 oz jig as I paddle from place to place in deep water, but i feel like my average paddling speed is to high for the 1 oz jig to actually fall to a good depth. I then try slowing down/stop paddling to try and let the jig drop to a good depth then paddle again and it will raise. But not luck yet.

Extra weight or something like a down rigger would be good for me.
No rod holders yet either so just 1 rod out.

The heavy jig is nice when im anchored (I just anchor a bit away to the other yak/boats around a general area, then when they move spots; I move in ) I'll either drop directly below to jig blindly or try fan casting and letting it drop all the way down then do some yo-yo technique. It's not very successful hours spent but 1 laker per trip is still engaging enough

Well done brother. Some great catching using nothing more then skill! I like it! Laker is very good in my opinion with its high fat content. It’s awesome with some kind of Asian glaze or miso recipe. Delicious!!!

Catching a laker this time of year in nj with no electronics blind casting is a pretty impressive feat.
