Default Avet MXL Raptor?

I have several Avet reels and love them all, I do have an MXL but it was bought for King Mac fishing in S. Fla. so it is a special 6.1 Hi speed. That MXL is not really the best for cod, grouper, and other larger bottom fish. I was thinking that the MXL Raptor 2 speed would work well for all those species, plus tiles and jigging for yellowfin. I have the LX 2 speed, that is my favorite offshore reel, this MXL Raptor will be even lighter weight but just as tough. Anyone have experience with that reel? It seems that the Raptor MXL even has a slightly larger line capacity than the other MXLs.

I love mine. I used it on the Excel trip with a 250g rod to catch about 10 or so yellowfin between 80-100# without a problem

Thanks for the reply, what rod do you have on the reel?? I assume on the Excel you had a longer jigging rod??
