Has anyone had good results with slow pitch Jigging for sea bass. Had good luck with conventional jigs but would like to give slow pitch a shot ..

Works great , keeps bait fluttering in the strike zone for a longer period than just using a vertical or bouncing application .

Another slow pitch question. How important is the rod/reel set-up?

Did some looking on the websites prior to buying and the rods run for different prices. Slow pitch usually have a slower and softer rod to give the jigs more softer action. JIgs have a different action (flutter ) vs the standard jig just starting out but I belive this is the up and coming thing to try. Search the web sites for info and videos plus the sponsers on this site.

Thank you Dano. I bought a few slow pitch jigs but didn't buy the set-up. Thought I would work a lighter rod first before I made an investment. Don't know how much this will impact their effectiveness.

Is there a difference between slow pitch jigging and jigging in general

Types of jigs used are the big difference.

Slow pitch is shaped differently - designed to glide and flutter on the down drop. Flat type design in the middle to float or sway when dropping.

Rods are usually soft in design as the rod is suppose to aid as a whip to propel the jig.

Reel is the main part in fighting and bringing in the fish.

Look online for soft pitch jigging sea bass -- quite a few videos.

Had not got a chance to try it out but doing some homework first is always helpful..
