Default Braid or Mono for Live Lining-Which Do You Prefer ?

I’ve always used mono when live lining as I felt it allowed the bunker to swim more naturally with the “floating” of the mono. Plus on those days with wind the chances of a wind knot decrease.

I recently spooled my live lining reel with fresh mono (the same brand and #test I’ve used before) but it’s seems the line is more coiled then ever-so now I’m thinking I might give braid a try

Thoughts ?

Pulled a lot of hooks live lining on braid so in IMHO mono is much better. The extra stretch gives much better/softer hook sets, especially when using circle hooks and also gives you some cushion when you're fighting a big fish as well...

I am a fan of mono for liveling. Try using mono that has less memory when spoiling up or use mono from bigger wider spool than the smaller spool to eliminate coils to tight

Braid with mono top shot , I use about 30’ on top of braid . This allows bait to swim freely and you to use lighter tackle sans reels with plenty of capacity using braid as backing .
Your really not setting the hook since most like myself use circles , this involves simply pointing rod locking up and reeling . Stretch or non stretch not a factor with mono TS .

I have to go along with Capt Lou. A long top shot, 30 to 40 ft of 40lb mono over 50 lb braid. I'm using the Diawa braid lately and am satisfied.
