RIP Mark B. I'll walk the shores of RVR this winter in his honor. Great guy with awesome input on the site, wish I got to meet him in person.

You are right Skippy. For a number of years Mark pulled together a free fishing for kids event at one of the hatchery's ponds. Mark worked in cooperation with the "Teen Anglers" a non-profit organization with the mission of getting kids interested in fishing. Not only would the kids get to catch some really nice sized rainbows but they also would get lunch if they wanted, and there were fishing tackle prizes handed out. An event that the kids would really look forward to.

Hi Fellas,
If you end up hitting RVR this fall let me know if you want another person and I'd like to join you. I know that Mark liked to hit the one shoreline in November when there was a west wind (I think). I joined him on one of those ventures and we did OK on the trout. Just PM me if you go and want some company with some Mark tales from years past.

Sounds good.

We can copy that trip you took, plus the info from this thread and perhaps any others Mark posted about RVR. Seems late November is the start? I do recall a west wind when on the east side was the idea. And I recall he had access from someone in town that lived on the east side of the mountain, not sure if we will have that luxury but im down for the hike

If we just plan a random day I wouldnt mind whatever the conditions though. But maybe as Late November approaches we can plan something if the forecast looks good.

Cool, that sounds like a plan. Just PM me when you guys are clear to go. In the meantime I will try and see if the access point is still available. That is how we accessed the lake when I fished with Mark.
I will PM you if I can nail down the access question. Have a good one!

Sounds like a plan! I think there is still hiking access from the Cushetunk Mountain Preserve parking lot, a bit of a hike but you can park there for sure. Looking forward to it!
