Default Honda 225 4 strokes

Looking for any info on experiences with Hondas. Looking at a boat that has twin 225s and was interested in hearing some opinions. I see them on some of the Coast Guard vessels and am curious!

Thanks in advance!!

I have twin Honda 130's on my new boat and had a 130 on my old boat....great, great engine....never had any major issues.

JR has twin 225's on OOAL 33' WorldCat and he loves them.....fo as long as I know him he's never had any major issues either.

I never owned anything but Honda, I think you will be very happy with them.

Give Surf & Offshore a call, they'll answer any/all questions you have about Honda.

yes, we have 4 of em here for the most part, there quiet, and have never left us stranded, our boat will tow 50 displacemnt tons with twins, but they are re-propped with a 4 blade from mercury. I would find out what year they are, as in (i think 04 or 05) the shift shaft changed from hollow to solid. We were bending to many of them. If its a salt water motor, make sure all the internal zincs get changed, there are 2 in each exhaust manifold. and keep clean fuel in them. out boat is almost 8k lbs and there decent on fuel. pm me if u need more info, i can give you any thing from internal specs to honda part numbers.

I docked near a guy that had a pair on a 26' CC, he always praised the motors.

Very reliable engines. Only digs I've ever heard is they are usually heavier then most other 4 strokes with the same horse ratings and with limited distribution/dealers parts and service can be an issue. But hey, if you have fewer problems, you won't need parts or service.

I think the reason you don't see them on more boats is because Honda unlike other engine manufacturers, has not bought boat companies so they are forced to put their engines on them.

Having said all this and if the engines check out on a survey, I would not hesitate to buy them. They have a great reputation and as a result the resale should be better then the same boat with a lesser brand of engines.
