Thumbs up Weekend species adventure!

Did some Pike fishing with Rob and Barry on Saturday. Threw the plugs but nothing going. Luckily Rob had some Shiners so we set up the float rods. Rob got an ok Pike out of spots 1 and 2. I got 2 Pickerel out of the way as well as a giant river Perch! Good times watching Barry cast his set up into a tree like 12 times. Ran out of bait pretty quick and hit the headwaters of the same river. Talk about pristine NJ water. It doesn’t get any better than this. Switched over to micro wild Trout gear and got an awesome looking Brown on the first or second cast. This guy was almost 12 inches in the smallest water possible. So stoked when this fish came to hand. CPR’d and moved on. Started getting strikes form smaller fish. Couldn’t land them til I went way smaller. Figured it out and brought about 10 wild Bows to hand. So much beauty overlooked in this small state. Great day of fishing and hiking with the boys.

Sunday Funday had me out for those Walleye again. Launched at 7:30 am and hit the first spot. Managed 2-3 keepers in 5 casts. Whoooo! Unfortunately I lost that lucky blade bait shortly after. The light switch was off and it seemed like they were keyed in on that one bait. I dug deep and threw the box at the fish coming up with Whiteys, 1 15 inch Smallie and of course the slab Crappie are always available at this venue. I was wasn’t satisfied so I dug deeper into the box and used my least favorite jigging lure and the damn thing worked for a change. Boated 3 more keeper Eyes and 1 short. Called it quits after pulling the anchor in and out of the water 35 times. Lol, yep I’m old school. What’s a trolling motor? I had one once……. Feed bags are on guys. Let’s get it while we can!
TIGHT LINES!!!
