Lake Hopatcong 9-26-16
A good friend of mine and I fished Lake Hopatcong with a guide this Monday. I mostly stream fish for trout so this was a different experience for me.
The water temperature was 68 degrees and the fishing was slow according to our guide. We used chicken liver as bait. My buddy landed 4 hybrid stripers and the two of us caught a lot of white perch and sunfish who were beating the hybrid stripers to the bait. One of the hybrids my friend landed bent his rod in half. Never seen that before while spin fishing in NJ. A good learning experience for sure. |

Congrats! Just wait until you get into the big ones.
Watch out as they become very addictive. I spent all last fall targeting them. Had a 30+ fish day with about a 4.5# average and a 7.5# lunker last november. |
