Default UPDATE 6/1/21 Greenwood Lake Public Launch Ramps

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all ok/healthy and made best of horrible holiday weekend weather wise.

As of today we are at 1162 signatures on our ONLINE PETITION (link up at the top of this feed) and our PAPER PETITIONS some of which have been sent back to me. We have a month to go and are hoping to get to and possibly surpass 1500 signatures.

Our news coverage is on hold at the moment as I did not feel that the assignment desk really understood the issue. Yes, the marinas can basically do whatever they want in terms of access/launch fees. That is not the issue....BOTTOM LINE THIS IS A PUBLIC LAKE WITH NO PUBLIC ACCESS. So, I sent the assignment desk supervisor a copy of our letter and the petition in its entirety in order for a better understanding of the issue. Do know that the reporter visited several marinas but do not know if the marinas refused to speak or what. I was told the story would be "kept alive".....they were under the understanding that Greenwood Lake was private until we corrected them. Will keep everyone posted regarding a potential new future air time if they decide to run the piece.

We will be present at the next Greenwood Lake Commission meeting on June 23 at 7 pm. We need to begin to see new faces.....to let them know we are not going anywhere. You must be respectful, cordial, professional, and voice your concerns. Individuals dropping F bombs and being disrespectful will NOT help the cause.

Today packets containing our letter addressing the issues and the full petition was sent out to the following targeted parties:

-Mayors of West Milford and Village of Greenwood Lake
-NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife
-Fish and Game Council of NJ
-NY DEC Region 3
-NJ State Federation of Sportsman's Clubs
-NJ Outdoor Alliance
-The Fisherman Magazine

We have one month to go...June 30 2021 is the deadline for both written and online petitions.

Please if you have not done so already.....SIGN. Each person find 10 other signatures. If you can drive from any TRI-STATE area to Greenwood....SIGN.
All NJ BASS CLUBS: bass opens on the 15th....please discuss the issue at your meetings and at your tournaments.....SIGN, SIGN, SIGN.

Even if you don't fish Greenwood Lake....YOUR license fees help stock and develop it's fishery. You are a stakeholder whether you realize it or not.

The paper petition can be sent out to anyone.....just give us an email or address and we will get it right out. All should be returned to:

United Freshwater Anglers of NJ
PO Box 253
Montvale, NJ 07645.

How would you feel if you went to boat/launch/fish your favorite lake and you are met by giant pieces of equipment blocking the launch ramp? Most if not all marinas are talking to one another, collaborating and have created a united front.... basically giving us all the same information. That is what we face people.....to be clear again.....this is NOT about the marinas, what they can and cannot do, blocking them from making money/doing business.

It is about a PUBLIC WATERBODY WITH A FISHERY CREATED BY THE PUBLIC and allowing access to this public waterbody through Public Boat Launch Ramp(s). And....it is NOT just about the fishermen....that make up a percentage of the "PUBLIC"........any public person wishing to launch to enjoy a day of boating is facing the same wall/hurtle that the sportsmen face. The clients of the marinas are the ones that are slowly but surely ruining the lake....as evidenced by garbage, floating debris, etc. One marina owner told us he had wave runner clients on his property urinating on the property and then speeding in the NO WAKE zone of the East Arm after telling said individuals to go slow. Of course the police were summoned and it became a big ta do...... The "fishermen" had nothing to do with this. We are all conservationists, follow the rules, and abide by regulations. We even told the Commission we would help them to remove invasive water chest nuts using OUR boats....since they were having a hard time finding volunteers. WE LET IT BE KNOWN THAT WE ARE NOT THE ENEMY.....

All please be well and we will keep you updated and posted. REMEMBER: JUNE 23 NEXT GREENWOOD LAKE COMMISSION MEETING AT 7 PM. WE NEED YOU!!!!!

UFANJ
