Default Boat Insurance

Any sponsors to this board handle boat insurance? If not, any suggestions from the peanut gallery?

dont know if any sponsors do.

But call Christi insurance. Ask for Raquel Hightower. Tell her Vinnie Ragusa aka sportfishingusa sent ya!

She is extremely knowledgeable and will have you insured in no time and at a great price! They are on face book too!

When I renewed my ever increasing policy a few years back, I went with Progressive.... They saved me over $200 bucks from an identical policy I had with similar coverage and deductables. I have a 25 foot boat and it's $620 per year. 100,000 300,000 and the boat is insured for a replacement value of $50K with $2500 deductable with comp and collision , $1000 in personal effects with $250 deductable. They also have a towing endorsement you can get and it's only $40 which covers you up to $1000 or $67 which covers you up to $2500.

Some companies only want to insure your boat for the replacement value (blue book) while other like Progressive and Boat US will insure you for a specific value which you assign. I think it's better to go with an assigned value policy since you know how quickly boats depreciate. This is especially true with used boats that you've sunk a lot of money into... New engines etc are not reflected in the replacement value.

I have yet to have any claims with Progressive so hard to tell what they are like in that regard...

Travelers will provide you a policy for agreed hull value. Our broker is AMU in NYC. Ace International is also another good insurance company.
