Default Millington Quarry

Stopped and took a look at Millington Quarry today, the site of a proposed 50 acre lake. Chances are it will all be private property but the place is huge and has tremendous potential.

I've fished a quarry that was filled and it was unlike anything I've fished. Steepest dropoffs you'll ever fish.

go fish lake aeroflex in andover, straight dropoffs from the edges in most places, very hard to fish places like that unless you kow the lake or have good electronics.......

It's great if you can figure it out.

That's right by where I live. As I recall, the building plan is for a 50 acre lake and most of the other land becoming McMansions on two-acre parcels. It sounds like an area I would be barred from.

We'll see what becomes of this. There have been allegations of corruption and a fear by the town council that if the quarry lets in fill from outside to build the delopment, it will inevitably become a scam to dispose of toxic waste. (Welcome to New Jersey). Areas of the quarry already have contamination that needs to be dealt with.

In the end, Basking Ridge is high-end real estate and 180 is worth a lot of money, so something will become of it.

I have fished Mine Hill Beach many times. All the surrounding lakes and it are flooded sand quarries. The lake gets to a 40 ft depth. There are fish there but they can be hard to find. When you do it can be good but it isn’t easy.
