Default May Report

Not a ton of fish but some good ones.....

Cinco de Mayo hit up Monks on a solo mission for the night bite and got 2 eye’s to 24” and 2 crappies to 12” throwing shallow running stick baits in the flats.

May 12th Met up with Basspilot at Monks after 7PM on the Mugger. I jigged up a 12” perch in the remaining daylight then we made the move to some shallow water walleye grounds. Basspilot hooked into a nice LM at last light. He then got into a 19”ish eye slamming his stick bait at our 1st spot in the dark. We made a move to some summer holding grounds and managed 2 more eyes at 18” and 22”. We had the Park Ranger hit us with a spot light at around 12:30 AM while I was hooked up, haha…Nice guy! Water temp-70 degrees-first signs of the herring spawn.

May 21st – Met up with Gwl2Oneida at GWL @ 7PM hoping for the night herring dance. We had a stiff south wind along with a 5 degree water temperature drop that kept the herring down. We pulled the Mugger around 10PM. Determination had me on the north ramp at Monksville 20 minutes later and 19” eye in the net shortly after. Off the lake at 1AM and zombied my way into the Memorial Day weekend antics. Water temps at both lakes 64, very little herring activity.

I'm hoping for one more trip this month but I toasted my back fluking this past weekend in small craft warnings..We have been doing well out of Barnegat Inlet with Bass over 30lbs, a never ending blue fish invasion in the bay and a solid start to fluke season with flatties up to 6lbs. A few more pics..

Great report. Sweet and salty NJ style. From the mountain tops down to the Sea. Way to mix it up Scott. And I feel you in the back pain dept. Friggin dying at the moment myself.

.

They're probably the same two fish that Skunk City caught earler in ther week.

The half-dozen fish that live in that reservoir must be exhausted!
