Aquaguard Waterbase

I am thinking of switching over to Aquagard water based bottom paint this year. Has anyone used this product, Any reviews?
My boat is moored in the Manasquan River from April thru October. I have had some minor barnacle growth on certain spots on the bottom.

Who sells Aquagard in the Monmouth/Ocean Area?

Not sure who sells Aquaguard but a few pieces of advice for you.

Make sure the Aquagaurd paint you intend to use is compatable with the paint you already have on your bottom now. If not you may need to do some prep work before paiting... The person selling you the Aquaguard should know and or it should be on their website.

As a little something extra you might consider mixing in some Cayenne Pepper Powder into the bottom paint.... Some old salts swear by it.

I have been using it for the past 3 seasons and it works great. I applied it over Micron and didn't have any problems with that.

Aquaguard is much cheaper, goes on a lot easier and cleans up with water. It also only takes a gallon to do my entire bottom vs 2 gallons of micron to cover the same amount. That would equate to a lot less paint buildup in my eyes.

One downside to the Aquaguard is that it is NOT a multi season paint like Micron. I found that out last year when I only touched up the bottom..... after touching up I used the rest of the paint in the can and started at the bow and worked aft... I got about half way back.... the aft section of the boat got COVERED in barnacles..... while the bow remained clear.

Hmmm - that must have sucked...

Got to love the Muti Season stuff.... Just touch up and you are done. Been using Multi Season for a few years now just touching up areas where needed. No issues with it and still using the same gallon of paint we bought a few years back.

We don't have that many issues with marine growth in our marina but I know some places where they do and the other paints don't work as well. I guess Aquaguard might be a better choice in those areas.
