Re: GAMBLER --Terrific Striped Bass Action 12/04
I fished on the Gambler out of Pt Pleasant, NJ today.
I fished on the boat for tuna about 30 years ago. Fishing was excellent on the first drift which lasted for almost two hours. I had 13 and I thought today would be my killer day. But fishing slowed down as usual. I ended up with 21 striper. It was a great day of striper jigging by any standard. Mates are very kind and helpful. I enjoyed fishing on the boat with light crowd. |

yeah, I dunno, I think you were correct with your first assumption that "today would be your killer day".... 21 stripers is a great day anytime anywhere on any boat.. 2 or 3 per angler on game fish of that size and stature is good fishing.. Enjoy it while it lasts.. the water is getting cold and they will become lot less available in a few weeks...

Yes. Catching 21 on a party boat is great.
My best number is 30 plus striper on the Fishfinder out of Captree about 10 days ago. Striper bite on jig from start to finish. But that is rare. You have hot time and slow time normally. I fished on Dec 1 on the Miss Barnegat Light catching 10 and on the Fishfinder again on Dec 3 catching 17. I don't keep striper and I just love to catch them to test new 7' Inshore Premier rods by JS USA. So far I have had over hundreds striper with the rod this fall. This is definitely great striper season in the fall. Most party boats have light crowd though. It is shame anglers don't enjoy the finest striper jigging on the party boats or charter boats. I will fish tuna for 3 1/2 days in PV starting Sat. If striper are still around next week. I like to join the Gambler again. Last edited by ksong; 12-05-2024 at 09:03 PM.. |

Re: GAMBLER --Terrific Striped Bass Action 12/04
Great day Ksong. It was a pleasure fishing with you. Crowds are light right now but the striper fishing is great. Last year we caught up to the end of December. Of course, there may be slower days in the mix, but overall, good fishing. Several guys did not show up because they thought the weather would be poor --but, we have a big heated cabin to get warmed up between drifts.
My wife and I had baked striper that night (I was actually able to fish myself) and it was very good. Plenty of room this weekend. Not fishing for stripers on Mondays. Capt Bob
