Default Icy Strait point Alaska

Has anyone ever fished out of this area. I'll be on a cruise here next August and am looking to Halibut fish. I'm think ICS point but we also have stops in Juneau,Skagway, and Ketchikan. Any helpful input or experiences would be appreciated. Thank-you FH

I was on a cruise a few years back and I hooked up with a good young captain out of Ketchikan that was agreeable to halibut fishing. every other captain I spoke with only wanted to take me for salmon. this guy promised me halibut but was honest in telling me that since my time there was so limited that the fish would be small ones. I booked him and he gave us a great day in spite of our limited time there. two of us caught 8 or nine halibut-keeping our two fish pp limit at the time(though as he said none were over 15 lbs), along with a bunch of other bottom dwellers (mostly pacific cod)and towards the end of the day he had us drop in a couple of trolling outfits for salmon. the salmon were everywhere! he even hooked us up with a fish house that filleted, flash froze and shipped and the fish arrived on my doorstep the day after we got back as promised. he may be worth a call. he had a 28' Boston whaler express with twin mercs his name is Ryan Hadfield @ (509) 860 1188 his e mail is Ryan@ketchikan fishing.com. good luck. and if it works out let me know

Thanks Gerry. I really want to book something that's not with the cruise line. We were hoping for some local boat someone went with. Thanks for the input. Hopefully I can post some Pics in August

I have been there. You can book on your own. They fish at the outlet of the stream where there are dead salmon carcasses. ISP is controlled by the native corporation.
