Default Okuma Avenger Baitfeeder...

Any opinions/thoughts?

Need to put together a few budget setups for boat guests. Will be using for spring time chunking.

These are very poorly made reels. I got two for same reason and after about 3-4 trips of snag and drop, the bait runner on one was shot and the handle on another was bent and loose!
Take a chance if you like but I would look else where

I'll have to agree with hookset... Most of my spin gear are Shimano baitrunners but...I had picked up a few of Okuma's even "better" Epixor models for that same purpose on the boat... Even with that occasional duty, and more Fluking than anything.. by the 2nd season they all started having issues.. baitrunner malfunctions, anti reverse failures,etc..lots of grinding and wobbling...Had a buddy try an Avenger despite my warning.. First day out with it we ran into a pile of big Blues at the mud buoy.. that reel lasted exactly 1 and a half bluefish.. lol.. gears seized.. I let him borrow a shimano the rest of the day.. Maybe look for some better built stuff on the used market... I'd take a clean used Shimano BR over a new Okuma any day..

Thank you Gents. Gonna be looking elsewhere as far as reels. Just need a couple of guest setups that dont require much "thought" as far setting up on the fish when they bite.

Have 2 baitrunners, 3500 and 5500....just not willing to let anyone else use them...

I got the Shimano Thunnus in the Spring and love it..... but don't think it would be a guest rod unless they knew what they were doing
