Crazy story, Eddie. Thankfully you're OK.

Your experience fishing the Big D and decades of experience behind the helm of your boat paid priceless dividends in the situation you were in. Kudos to you for staying cool and calm, and kudos to the locals, the PD and so on for assisting a person in need.

Glad you're ok man. Thats some scary ish!

wow rough nite for sure.Thank god for the rescue folks out there, you did the right thing by staying cool and having a sense of humor with the " did not catch anything in the last two hours" comment that showed the rescue peps that you were calm and ready to deal with the situation at hand well done glad you are safe. The flatheads will be waiting for you to return

Had time to think, what other options could you have. I mean that current does run strong, tether yourself to the boat and jump overboard then try to pry the boat loose. Sounds dramatic. Better to take the high road and call for help instead of being a news story.

Wow, quite the mishap. Glad you are ok.

A couple of weeks ago, went fishing with my friend Randy and his neighbor Joe. On Raritan Bay we caught 5 keeper fluke. Rearranging the position of the net on the deck, when Randy put the boat underway, I lost my balance. Hitting the low gunnel with the back of my knee, overboard I went! I was able to grab the Bimini Top railing with my left hand as Randy, quickly, put the motor in neutral. Randy and Joe helped me back onboard,.....I was probably in the water for 10 - 15 seconds. Lost my sunglasses. My hat was floating. Joe was trying to corral it with the boat hook, but he started barfing. I took over the task of retrieving my floating hat, as Joe's barf slick was getting close to enveloping it. Joe said that he had bad guts, and that when I went overboard he gasped. Also, he can't swim, which added to his angst.

Today wade fishing the Delaware (best fish: 24" channel cat & 20" striper), I stepped off a ledge and frog kicked with my legs while on my back to get out of the deep water.

It happens fast. "The sea, she is a tough life." - Jacques Cousteau
