Default Few electronics questions....

Need to upgrade in the off-season this year......stuff I have works fine but is like owning a tube tv!

I have limited space on top of the dash and flush mounting isn’t an option on my 21 WA.

-where are you guys buying and finding decent prices
-brands? Always had good experience with garmin, willing to hear reccos
-rather have a plotter and FF in 2 diff units. My thinking is if one goes out I still have the other working. Old school thinking?

Thanks boys

Congrats! Love Garmin. And I love separate unit. Two boats have combined- one touch and two non-touch screens. And he monitor shows what you want YOU AND PUT UP on it. Separate units ALWAYS shows you everything whether you're looking for it or not ALWAYS. hard to miss feeding fish under the boat when you stop to take a p*ss there by accident. LOL

You giving the old stuff that works away? The line forms in back of me. LOL

I’m in the market as well. I have noticed prices have come down since last I looked. Getting close to the holiday season and Black Friday. Do your research now then be ready for holiday sales

By the way. Hope you are well.

Upgraded recently to the Raymarine Axiom series and like it a lot. They have a sale going on now at West Marine on the 7 inch which is the smallest I’d ever go.. Nice features are Navionics maps so they are compatible with the phone app and Raymarine has 2 apps of their own, one allows you to broadcast the screen of the GPS and or Fish Finder to a phone or tablet and the other allows you to operate the unit remotely from your phone or tablet.

I like the separate units as well..... I like to have the Fish Finder mounted up high rather then at the helm so you can see it when fishing in the cockpit. GPS I want right at the helm.

What’s up Duff?

My boat came with the Lowrance 10” HDS II and although nice enough, the split screen was a drag and I wanted to have an independent bottom machine and one for charts. Added the Simrad Go7 and have them connected along with the C10 display for the Suzuki. Still adjusting the ins and outs on both machines but the down view on the Simrad is a game changer for bottom fishing. It’s structure scan laid over the bottom sonar.

Either spend some time at a distributor and play around for a bit, or wait for the shows over the Winter. Javits will have all the manufactures and show specials I’m sure.

Good luck!

One other thing to consider, I'm pretty sure you're or used to be a mechanic and depending on the engine you have, you might also find the engine information screens on these units helpful and some even include fuel consumption. If you think this info would be helpful, find out which out put interface your engine has and make sure the unit you decide on will take that input.
