Thumbs up Upper Delaware river float trip 4/4/19:

Since I have been stinking it up so bad in N.J. trying to catch a fish I had to drive to N.Y. just to catch one !

The1 and I got blown out of the Wednesday trip so opted for the Thursday trip. Unfortunately time restraints held us to a half day float trip on the West branch of the Delaware river. Fishing was on the slow side but it felt good to be in a drift boat again. I didn't go up last fall due to the enormous amounts of rain, so it had been close to a year since my last trip. The fish are still there ! The tough part of the float was all the "schmutz" in the water. Lots of chunks of weeds and all kinds of other stuff. The bottom was matted in a thick algae which seemed rare. We both managed a few fish, I had at least 3 follows, and lost a nice fish at the boat due to line failure at the knot. Breezy at times and a high temperature near 50* reminded us it was early April.

Pretty much that's it in a nut shell. In a month it will be packed hotels and bumper boats on the river up there. Interested to see how the video comes out

Nice brown. Good day to be out.

We used to do well up there on silver #2 Mepps but we fished down on the Mainstem.

Those first two hours; Coldest ive been fishing in a while That wind was relentless! It was my first time fishing out of state, even first time stepping into the delaware, and it was just beautiful and awesome to be there in the middle of it all. i dont travel much, and this felt like a whole new world.

Definitely want to go back one day, just gonna make sure it's a bit more fair-weather.

Black marabou strikes again!

Later I will try and get a nice image of the fish that got away from the video I recorded.

Nice brown Andy! Glad to see you had a good time despite conditions. Weird that the bottom was matted with algae so early in the year.
