Default Millstone River carp

Threw out a can of corn for chum, then caught a 10.75 lb common carp with ShopRite canned whole kernel corn on a #8 gold hook and 4 lb test line and 8.75 lb common carp with my homemade corn meal bait on a #8 red treble hook and 12 lb test line. Caught and released 2 channel catfish, a white catfish and a yellow bullhead on corn meal bait at dusk.

You're a carp madman for sure! Good job! What do you do with the carp you catch?

There's been health advisories for years with carp which is why I asked Bands the question. It's obvious why you should be careful how much is consumed, at least in my opinion. Some might think, like Covid vaccinations, the advisories are bogus. Personally based on the waters many inhabit and carp's feeding habits, I believe the advisories are more than justified. If they ate just canned corn and your home made cornmeal, would be less concerned. When they're scrounging the mud which is where the toxins have accumulated in some of these bodies of water over many years, I'd be concerned eating anything from questionable waters. That goes for any fish. not just carp.

Carp from the Delaware Water Gap area which is very clean water and has substantially less to no toxins than the Passaic River, I'd be less concerned. You are what you eat as they say and that runs the gamut of the food chain including people.

Every time he posts about giving his carp away, I reply with a link to NJ Fish Consumption Advisories (Carp caught anywhere in NJ should not be consumed more than once a month by the general population. Pregnant women, women of child bearing age, and children should not consume any). Hoping that he informs the recipients of those facts.
