Default Registration woes NY to NJ

I'm having problems registering a boat I bought from a gentleman in NY here is NJ. It seems like NJ and NY motor vehicle agencies don't talk the same language.Anyone out there have this problem? Anyone from NJMVC talk to a peer on the NY side? I'm sure you bayshore guys have some stories about this.

What sort of problem? I did it a couple of years ago with no issues whatsoever.
I handed them them the title, application and a check and they gave me my new numbers and sticker.

Yep - Just get the title and take it to DMV and you should be set.

Are you trying to transfer the NY to NJ?

It's simple if you have a title. More work without the title shifting to have to prove that you and the seller legitimately came into ownership. More papers that's all.

And of course sales tax.

My issue from NY to NJ was the assignable registration. NJMVC didnt like that much. I had to get a notarized letter from the seller stating that he was selling the boat to me. Assuming that's your problem?
