Default Raritan river report

Left the boat at home and went out scouting spots on the main stem Sunday. Put the truck thru mud and water up to the doors and found some productive new spots. Ended up with 5 bows on gold blade spinners, 1 lmb, 1 smb, and 1 fat redbreast that thought it was a piranha! Biggest trout (16") didn't make it, had large bite marks on both sides of it's body from something big n toothy!

Thumbs up Re: Raritan river report

We were just above you. River is fishing good with all the water, seems like the fish are spread out really well.
As much time as we spent on Sunday we only hit a fraction of the river. We only fished the top of Orlando Park in Raritan Borough, could have fished more but time was running out. Did get a fish out of one of my favorite runs in Somerville.

On the SBR, I caught a stocked rainbow trout with large wound on both sides about two weeks ago. I'm sure it came from a predatory bird which are very good at catching stocked trout. Since we've had rain this spring, there is more water for the trout to hide from them. But the birds still do well.

Man, the main stem is packed with trout! I was a the QB briefly saturday using silver sppiner and grub jig and only had a sunny chase. Ha. Good job scouting.

gold's been the ticket for me this year, preferably black/gold panther martins. stopped by the river again today for an hour and got a stockie bow and feisty smallie on a gold pm.

I'll post my report too.
At duke island fished for hardly 15 minutes and picked a smallie
Text it to Andy who I then see just across the river, coincidentally.
I head to Orlando park and pick up nothing on the way downstream. Until I hit a change in the river, a very slow pool on the side, like when you get a smaller channel that goes around the bank. Came up to it sloooowly and tossed a jig and had a lmb.
Some huuuuge carp cruising the shallows as always in the raritan.
Go down the slow section a bit more and pick up an ok smb.
I headed back upstream and catch two trout. Rock bass action below the rapids from the nevious bridge, and ended there. Would have been bonkers if I got my third, never got three in one day.

Next time im either spending more time at the bridge section or going down further cause it was looking pretty sweet + fishable.

Tycomps, remember to shoot me a text if you want company fishing.

Also all caught on 1/16th oz jigs with various curly tail grubs.
