Default Re-core swimplatform

Took off the old platform because of rot. I ground it all out to re-core it but there are many materials to choose from, it was end grain balsa. The foam products , from what I've read, do not hold mounting screws well. So with that in mind do you go back to wood? any thoughts?

If you are replacing balsa the high density foams will certainly hold a screw better than balsa...Charlie

I used SeaCast in my last ride for an engine mount that was fubar. Worked great. Def something you can drill/tap and has the strength for a swim platform. Something to look into.
