It was a zoo to put it very mildly.. masses of " less than friendly" guys fishing shoulder to shoulder, and overly competitive and decidedly aggressive attitudes from most.

Absolute combat zone "fishing".. Yes, I don't catch big pacific salmon in other waters I fish here in NY state, but i enjoy quiet, contemplative, productive fishing trips in peaceful surroundings..

It might be worth a try, maybe you might have the right day/place/vibe on that day, and things may have become more civil.. A Monday might be a lot better than the sunday i went, years ago... that one day has kept me from the area for years...

Its a mecca for a lot of people, and they come from hundreds of miles away, but as for me, NO thanks... bob
Well said Bob. Gorilla warfare fishing!!!
I have not been up in 15 years or more but got an itch that needs to be scratched. The last half dozen times that I Did go I only went between Monday/Friday. On the water BEFORE sunrise and fish the smaller tribes. This also gave you a better shot at the steel.
I would be done by 9am and spend the rest of the day scouting new spots or watching the show😁

It is combat fishing at times ! But that's what makes it interesting, some of the stuff people do for these salmon is pretty crazy. me personally the first couple are fun after that I focus on the steelies and browns.

Depending on where you fish significantly effects the crowds. Any spot on the lower river will be packed because of the parking available. Move mid river and you have wayyy more room. Plan a trip during the week and you have even more room.

Nice fish ! I still haven't tried it because of the rumors of combat fishing
