I did a search and didn't find any mentions of it on this forum. The 150 Yami's of that vintage have a issue with the harmonic balancer shredding which can clog the oiling system and blow the engine. It will whine at low RPMs when it is getting ready to go. One of mine started to whine at 400 hours so I had them replaced. The new ones have a better oil flow to the balancer.

Congratulations and good luck!

Just curious, is 500 hours a lot on a four-stroke outboard? I think I've seen some with 2,000 hours but I can't imagine that's typical.
