Default Bizarre Stomach Contents of a RV Rainbow

Last Round Valley rainbow I got came home for dinner. I was shocked to see that this fish had been surviving with a 12” rubber snake and a 6” rubber fish in its gut. Didn’t seem unhealthy and fought like a champ.

.

I've found it's not uncommon for bass on heavily fished lakes to barf up plastic lures as their being reeled in.

I'm not surprised to see trout with plastic in its guts. That rubber snake is weird. Could it be a plastic worm that expanded in his stomach?

My bet is that the Rubber snake is a 6' SENKO, they expand like crazy over time when sitting in something wet. Thanks for the post, very interesting to say the least.

When I see this it reminds me of the lake trout photos that were taken at RV a few years ago.

Imagine catching a state record by a pound difference and it's because the fish ate that

Just don't fish for them when the water is too hot...
there're sensitive

I agree with Rich196 about it being a senko and they do expand and don't breakdown in a fishes stomach. It's quite disturbing at the number of soft plastics that one can see lying on the bottom of lakes with good water clarity. In recent years I see more and more 15" to 17" bass that have a normal size head but are very thin, they generally give a good fight but definitely have a problem and I figure that it's most likely soft plastics in their stomach, not much room in their stomach for much else. Please take your old soft plastics and put them in the garbage, not into the waters you fish. Senkos seem to be the biggest culprit. IMHO

PS: This is a picture of one that was very thin but this isn't a good angle.
