Default Orlando area

Hi all, will be in Orlando area for a bit. My son would like to fish for bass and whatever else we can find. Anyone have recommendations as far as spots to try, lures, for this time of year? Would maybe consider a charter. Thanks.

St johns river. I think theres several charters about 30 minutes from Orlando.

Go a little further east and there are tons of inshore and offshore charters around canaveral.

One other option is grab a surf pole and some frozen mullet and cast from the beach been catching tons of blues from shore along with the occasional red drum showing up as well. Its about 45 minutes from the airport to cocoa or satellite beach.

If you do the Disney thing and don't want to fish live bait you will need to beat it into the guides thought process. They're not used to dealing with fisherman, mostly tourists so they use live bait to ensure getting them into fish. The other thing is I wished I'd brought my own rod, their gear was beat on and the bale kept popping open when I would set the hook. Also would have loved to try the fly rod and a dahlberg diver.

That said may son and I did well on texas rigged rubber worms. Pleasant morning out before the heat set in. Very neat catching nice bass among the Ecpot "countries". If you're familiar with Epcot we did well by where the schooner is moored.

Too far north. They're found from Palm Beach county south.
