Default Nc tuna at its best on canyon runner

Another epic tuna trip outer banks with Capt. Deane on the Canyon Runner. With the small weather window, Tony, son Alex, nephew Cody, Big Al and myself packed up and headed south Monday. We went 1 for 2 on Giant BFT. First one we pulled the hook about 30 feet from the boat. Another one came tight and after an hour and forty five minute battle we got it to the boat. A nice slob, close to 500lbs. Got a few pictures and had a safe release with the season being closed. With the expertise and knowledge Capt. Deane has we were able to go 8 for 12 on yellowfin which had not been a consistent bite. Awesome for us to bring home table fare. Also had a small Mako and watched another Mako take half of a yellowfin as it was at the boat. An awesome start of the 2019 season. Tight Lines!
