Default 6/3 Afternoon weather

Anyone else get their asses handed to them running back to the dock yesterday? West winds up to 40mph (and I believe hail) had Raritan Bay whipped to a froth. 3'-4's tight and constant. Tie off at the marina with the sun out and no wind. Son of a b*&#@!!

Will be checking the radar app next time and see if floating it out for a half hour is a better idea than trying to beat it back. Pharkin back is killing me today!

All I can say is thank God I still don't have the pickle.....

As PBJ was saying, felt like we were getting sandblasted!

Bobby - We ran back in around 6:30 in a friends center console. Luckily he has a full enclosure and the tide had slowed up so we were'nt fighting wind against the tide too. Ocean was flat but as soon as we made the turn it got pretty bumpy.

If you ran in earlier in the afternoon it must have been evil. Strong west wind bucking a higher then normal incoming tide... Yowsa

BTW - I know you have a soft spot in your heart for older Makos. A guy in our marina just fully restored a 70s vintage Mako skiff from stem to stern. Very cool boat with lots of teak and a single V8 straight inboard. He's parked right buy the fuel dock. You should check it out.

Pete - Does the guy you sold the Pickle to keep it in Leonardo? If not there's a boat just like it. Always loved the classic Dory lines on that boat.

Gerry - I'm definitely interested! Sounds like a 23' Inboard classic. Sweet rig with a TON of fishing room 360 degrees. I might even run down today after work.

The "Pickle" is probably one in the same. A lot of good times and laughs on that boat. Open skuppers made November/December Blackfishing with 3-4 inches of water on deck interesting.

Absolutely obliterated by hail.

That was the wickedest I've ever experienced (in) the bay. Getting tossed around like rag-dolls.

...and don't get me started about the guy trying to leave his dock on a bass boat. We PLEADED with him to turn around but he wouldn't listen...hope he made it ok.
