Default Best Spot for the Family Trip to Maine??

Happy New Year to all! Been a while.. I am planning a trip to Maine with the family, I am looking for some intel on the best places/area to stay or rent a house so everyone can have fun. I would like to fish from the shore or take a charter, find REAL Maine seafood(not the tourist traps), fun for the kids etc. Thanks and I looked forward to hearing your comments.

It is hard to go wrong with Boothbay area.Pemiquid to Darimiscotta you will find local oysters, lobsters (bugs), and clams...As well as some shoreline stripers...Best months June and July for fishing...As well as BFT; I don't have any charter recomandations . Go to Platts or to kettle grounds and drop Jigs tho...Anyone that goes the @ 40 miles should catch a lot of fish; just might be some space between "keepers"...I think if I had to pick one town for vacation it would be Darimiscotta...Feeder lake has some Awsome freshwater fishing too...Sea run smelts keep trout and salmon on the larger side for Maine🐟🐟🐟Happy travels

I must agree. I have been to the Boothbay area many times. I have caught stripers off Pemiquid Point. (Great Lighthouse). Darimiscotta is a great town with lots of things to see. I have stayed out on Southport Island most of the time. It is close to everything About a 7 hr drive from Somerset county

I would also recomend the boothbay area. Real picturesque area. Definitely recomend cabbbage island clambakes for a family outing.

Boothbay is great. Check out Sweet Action Charters.

I did Acadia and Little Deer Island. AVOID it like the Plague for fishing.

It's the worse spot I've ever seen for fishing. From shore of boat. Not even bait in water you can see 20 feet down to the bottom. There's not even bait shops around. That tells you something. Nearby Stonington Lobster Co-op & Harbor is loaded with boats too.

Beautiful place, but you can catch as many fish if you fish in your swimming pool. AVOID it if fishing.

Don't mean to throw a wet blanket on you but if you are going there expecting good fishing, I think you'll be disappointed. The inshore fishery there can't hold a candle to what we have here in NJ.

Having said all this, Booth Bay is a beautiful place as is Acadia but I would not consider either to be good fishing destinations.

I've been to Camden Maine. It's beautiful.
