Default CLUELESS - 17 Died in 2017 b/c no Nav Training

This is totally mind blowing ignorance for any who has ever run a boat.

I had heard about it and the 17 fatalities when it happened. But was shocked after the cause was investigated and recently released to public. NY Law Journal ran it last week "ADMIRALTY 2 NAVY 0"

Did you the KNOWLEDGE OF THE RULES OF THE ROAD & COLREGS we are required to know for a basic boating safety certificate AND be expert in if we have a USCG credential are never taught to Navy seaman or officers?

Mind boggling!!!!

There is no USCG certification or training whatsoever to Navy helmsmen or Naval officers commanding naval vessels. NONE!!!! Not even a homegrown training course.

The two US Navy warships that collided with foreign commercial shipping in 2017 in the Pacific were investigated.

The incompetence demonstrated in the two collisions (10 dead & 7 dead) either crushed these poor bastards to death while they slept in their bunks or vaporized them from ordinance explosions because people running our US Navy fleet are never given even a basic education course and are then entrusted with huge nautical assets.

I was floored. This is not what happened in 1920 but is the current state of our 2019 US Navy.

Unbelievable. Like a thawed out dinosaur... how could this happen?

I was onboard the USS Ranger for CQs back in the 70s. After 3 days of operations the carrier was heading back in and tried to race a liberian tanker. when the captain cut in front of the tanker we collided. There were no injuries on either ship, but there was a 400 foot long dent in the side of the carrier. When we returned to port the captain was relieved of duty and escorted off the ship. In command of an aircraft carrier was a 34 year old captain. Big FN Dent

Funny and sad at the same time. Sometimes others get hurt very bad from this institutionalized ignorance.

Cast. Frank: Do you think under any circumstances the US Navy would seek certification from an organization they refer to as "shallow water sailors or puddle pirates?"
I am not trying to insult either branch but the inter service rivalries just would not permit that. The Department of Defense can't even get all branches of the military to wear the same camouflage uniforms for combat.

They talked about civilian helmsman- but they are too protective.

Right now according to the article the navy is addressing it.,.. what ever that means... I guess assign to a person and them ignore it?
