Default Trout - Wildwood Area

I will be vacationing in Wildwood next week. Planning to take the Fly pole and try a new spot. Can anyone suggest a good place for Trout in this area?

I have been killing it on the Black River with pole mostly and recently got my first trout with a Fly.

Much appreciated!

Nice to hear black river has been good to you, same to me!

The state only stocks two bodies of water in Cape May; Ponderlodge Pond and Tuckahoe Lake. Seems like the latter is out of the question due to distance. away from wildwood....

South Jersey doesnt really compare to North Jersey and it's waters. Ive never fished down there but I just know it's nothing like the black river.

Maurice River is the closest that may still have living fish. South Jersey ponds are too warm for trout after late May. You are better off trying for bass or pickerel or fishing the salt.

So Ponderlodge Pond - is a good one to try out?

I do not want to drive too far.

I'm not saying it's good, it's probably really bad like tautog said, it's just that it's the only.

Tbh, don't target trout down there. It's like saying you enjoy skiing while you live in the mountains and decide to go to Florida to ski too.

Either pick another species or simply enjoy the time in Wildwood not fishing, it's a lovely beach down there. Used to spend a week down there as a kid every summer.

Find the quarries in Cape may and target largemouth and crappie

I'll be in wildwood in a few weeks too trying to fish...I always miserably fail haha. I've tried surf fishing (caught horseshoe crabs) and off the rock wall, hooked on fish and lost it....

never tried fresh, but there's not way i'm going a whole week without fishing so i'll be trying something...always had trouble getting info on fishing down there though.

Rocks in North Wildwood should have tog and maybe a sheepshead on crabs. Same for North Jetty at the inlet.
