Default Wash down pumps......

Curious as to what everyone is using? Have a Shurflo that took a crap half way thru last season. Prices for different pumps are all over the place. Obviously know ya get what ya pay for. Suggestions on what ya use, what to stay away from. Just go with shurflo again?

Pulled old pump apart for the hell of it. Can’t believe it even worked for half the season!!!!!

I just picked up a Jabsco Hot Shot 6.0 with a hose and such from a NS dealer.

Seems like a good price and good unit. Likely better than the par-max that took a crap on me last season as well. Warranty is easy thru jabsco as well.

Where did it fail? You sure it's the pump motor not the wiring to it? Or the pumping mechanism?

I Grady had a combination pump with a Y valve to selection washdown hose or live well when turned on.

Also check the thru hull fitting and shut off valve is OK while you're digging.

Diaphragm leak allowed saltwater into stator. Looks like it locked up and broke magnet off case. Wiring is fine

That's actually good. Sometimes the location its mounted in is bad. It's under the deck, slapped around and sometimes submerged by bilge water. Afterwards baked in the summer heat in the sauna that's a deck in the sun. Then elevating it could cure a problem. And make it last even longer.

But you had none of that and all seems well for the same spot to re-mount the replacement pump and motor assembly.
