Default Weekend ice fishing

bunch of us out saturday, a pretty awesome ice fishing crew, but we just couldn't get lucky with a good bite. had some flags with a couple of decent fish, but not many and no monsters. plenty of crappie to pass the time though, also no big ones, all about 8-10" but it was amusing.

I have to get the new strike king ice abacus that jigman was talking about for more accurate counting. there was some discrepancy on 52 or 53 fish caught... and squatch always tries to add more to his count when i'm not looking so he can beat me!

Chris nice healthy looking pike and crappy. Beautiful markings on the pike. How much ice did you have? With rain scheduled for the next two days and Thursday's high forecast of low 50's, what's everyone's thoughts about safe ice this upcoming weekend.

Thumbs up Re: Weekend ice fishing

Very very exciting day on the ice. Nope! Not really! Chris got the nicest Pike of the day. Nice fish homie! As for slab Crappie, there were none caught to speak of. Hahaha! Slow day overall but great to get out.

Dakota, the ice north of 80 should be fine. That 50 degree temp won’t be around for long. Then cils the days following. We might lose an inch but the ice should be. Ice and smooth when all said and done.

nice pike, that fish made you high hook for the day so if squatch wants to add a few crappies no big deal i hear they even have glow in the dark beads for the abacus for those nite trips... sounds like you guys had fun and that is what really counts

Nice! I just got back from ice fishing in northern WI. It was -12, but we caught a few good fish. 20 inches or so of ice.

i agree, most places will be ok. only issue might places like hopatcong, if we get a lot of rain and it raises the level and pulls the ice away from the shore.
