Talking Tough weekend fishing!

I was off Friday so wanted to do some catfishing. Caught some Rainbows for cut bait with ease. Set up shop with heads and chunks. Only 1 runoff in 5 hours. Maybe I would’ve done better with Shad. Can’t beat cut Shad for bait when they’re in the river. Hmmmmmmm!

Saturday I stayed local on the Raritan. Hooked 3 Stripers all day and they all snapped me off due to a faulty rod tip. The top eye on the St. Croix has a razor sharp nick in it, right where the line sits in retrieve. The action slowed right when I figured out my braid was getting ruined and severed by a faulty eye! It will be fixed. The fish I hooked were all peeling drag, dammit, lol!

Sunday back to the scene of the crime. Spot 1 didn’t have any signs of life. Bounced around and finally found some shorts to play with. Managed 3 shorts on the magic plug before the wind started howling like a train. Nice feisty 23-26 inch class fish, very clean. All in all a tough weekend! TIGHT LINEZ!!!

In the old days you ran women hose through the tip to detect any burrs, not sure you can find any hose today.
