Default Saddle river county park smallies

Anyone know where I can find some smallmouth bass in the river pools near the county park area. Preferably near the waterfall area of the hohokus part?

They should be holding around any shade covered nooks. Sounds like you know what you're looking for already, river pools preferably near that little waterfall. If you try the whole pool under the falls, you should definitly have some luck. Suckers are constantly trying to get up that dam too so you can always throw a worm and keep busy with them as well. I was able to get out near there on Monday throwing a weightless 4" skippy fish and got this nice 16"er on 4lb test. More dinks & panfish on a small spinner.

What's the word out there? Any luck around that waterfall? Had some time to kill today so I gave it a shot in a stretch I don't get to access too much. Wound up with bunches of sunnies & bluegills, some perch, and a few bass with the biggest taping out at 17". Soft plastics didn't work as well as i thought today, but they were hungry for little spinners! On a side note: Brian, make room in your message box, I can't send anything.
Here's the 17"er.

What would work well for the smallies in the pools? Maybe NED rigs?

I like curly tail grubs on jigs. Try swimming them, touching bottom, or leaving them in the current

I 2nd that. If I'm all out of 4"skippyfish or fat 3"keitech swing impacts, grubs are the next go to. And yea, the ned rig should help get to the bottom a lot easier as well. Have had a lot of reaction strikes lately, with bass hitting as soon as the lures hit the water. Don't sleep on the spinners though. Caught a dink smallie outta the Passiac the other day on a big skirted spinner I use for pike. I would definitly use an inline on the Saddle River though.
