I used a decent guy on Main Street in Avon just north of the bridge off Rte 35. He was very good. Name escapes me- albeit Monmouth county.

Made some custom offshore lure bags for me too.

Hi Alvin....

I am just the person you are looking for... ALY Canvas has recently become a sponsor of NJfishing but has been in business for over 5 years repairing canvas enclosures and replacing both Strata and Isenglass windows. Please feel free to give me a call I have sent you a pm.

Allison

Best stuff I have found and was reccomended to me by several others is 210... You can get it in just about any boat store, comes in a spray can you just spray on and wipe off with a soft terri or microfiber cloth. It cleans and protects and it's a good idea to use it once a month. Note that this is not to be used on Strata Glass, they reccomend something different.

IMO the 2 worst things you can do that will make your eisenglass foggy are:

1) Rolling up the glass if there is any sort of dirt or dried up salt deposits on it. The glass rubs against itself when rolled up and this causes small scratches that are almost impossible to get out. Make sure they are rinsed and dried before you roll them up. In fact, even when clean, rolling up the glass can still cause scratches. For this reason a lot of people will roll their curtains up with a towel inside to avoid the curtain from rubbing on itself and scratching. If you have a hard top you could also have snaps attached to the glass and snap it to the hard top rather then rolling it up. This is how Ally set up my new enclosure.

2) Leaving the glass rolled up when it's wet. This usually causes condensation between the 2 plys of glass and it makes them foggy, sort of similar to what happens to house windows when the seal breaks between the 2 pieces of glass. A few hours baking in the sun will usually take care of it or I heard of people using a hair dryer to apply some heat to it and remove the condensation.

Hope this helps Lefty.

@ LeftyReeler, I will get the exact name for you and start a new thread tomorrow on Maintenance Care for your canvas an cleaners. The name on the bottle escapes me at the moment, but my father has been using it for years and lives by it, I must say it works miracles.

On another note... over years due the weather and sun exposure the isenglass can tend to get cloudy. I always recommend for winter storage that if possible all canvas is removed and stored in a safe place. This will help add to the life of your enclosure.

The name of the cleaner is Glass-Plex it should be used with a soft towel. Before using make sure to wash it first with boat soap to remove any dirt or salt. You never want to apply force to a window with a towel without cleaning it first, this will lead to hairline/fine scratchs.

Hope this helps..
