Default Passaic R. fishing access @ the base of the Great Falls, Paterson

Visited & spoke to Gloria, several blocks away @

o Totowa Bait & Tackle Shop •
o (973) 956-0825
o 10 Albion Ave •
o Paterson •
o Directions

She said that anglers catch Northern Pike & bass @ the base of the Great Falls. Must be LMB / SMB, cause stripers can’t get above Dundee Dam.

I walked down there via a bike trail @ the end of Maple Ave.………lots of litter was not unexpected for this depressed city,………..& very, very “fishy” looking = saw an empty wire leader package.

DEEP water @ the upstream most access down there. Nice looking wadable, riffles & runs for quite a distance downstream made me wish that I had brought my fishing gear !!!

Gloria, & the other locals, call it “The Chas”,……..short for “The Chasm”.

This particular location is now part of the Great Falls National Historical Park.

Fished there once and I do agree about it's potential however walking down that trail with my gear I came across some individuals that made me think twice about ever going back.

LOL, I experienced the same on the D&R Canal in Bound Brook one morning. Nothing like having a few cold beers under the bridge.... At 8 AM!

I recall seeing a guy with a can of beer in one hand, a blunt in another and his pitbull walking around along the shoreline unleashed with a 10 pound weight around it's neck and a hammer in its mouth. WTF?!?!

You know I saw this post right after it was posted and was gonna say that that area has lots worse things then garbage.
Being that I used to live in that area 30 years ago, I speak from experience, and it seems that it ain't mush different now.
Hammer in it's mouth?????????

I'll stick to the boring so. Branch!!

I'm from Jersey City and have fished places like Global, Liberty Park, Caven Point and Lincoln Park but what was going on there made me feel a tad bit uneasy. LOL!!!

Spectacular fishing at the Great Falls. Unfortunately, I won't go there without at least three others, so I don't go often. Maybe there should be an NJfishing get together there
