Farrington Lake Report
@#&$^% the Alarm was supposed to go off at 4 am and my plan was to be on Assunpink before sun up. Didn't happen, set alarm for 4 pm not am
Plan B...woke up at 5 am and decided that Plan B was now in effect...go to Farrington which is only ~ 10 mins from my house. Twitched the lily pads with a superfluke and connected with 4 LM bass and 3 pickeral in the am. Switched to a rooster tail and nailed two brookies as well. Guess who forgot sunscreen! Well you guessed it, I was off the pond by 11 am. With the breeze picking up and me getting roasted, I was done. Not a bad day on the water. All fish were super shallow, in the lily pads. I also had numerous hook ups that quickly came unbuttoned with severe slashes in my jerk bail... those pesky fresh water blues! Last edited by lunkertaker; 05-28-2011 at 06:41 PM.. |

Haha lunker, that always seems to happen to me. Plan-B come into affect more often then plan-A. Sounds like you had an awesome day fishing. I headed out today but came up with nothing :/ next time! As for the sunscreen.. we all forget the small things!

Yeah we all forget the small things on the way out the door early. There are a lot of variables..food, water, batteries charged, SUNSCREEN!, tackle boxes, trolling motor, life vests for all, the correct lures chosen the night before, enough line on the reels, fishing license... One thing I always leave at home...the cell phone...when I am fishing I want to be out of touch! I am FISHING! |

Sometimes you can't do anything about sunburn though. I put on 2 layers of SPF50 and i still got burnt pretty badly yesterday. I do however, always take my cellphone due to its great picture quality. I would've missed some good fish photos if I didn't have it. |

Advise taken and worthy...just the last thing I want is to be reeling in a fish and some one (fool) calling on the phone The most important thing is attention to detail...presentation, the hookup, and delivery to the boat! Thanks for the postings...Man I wish I could have made it out there today as I know they are on the lily pads feeding! Get em soon. |

I have only managed 2 pike there, both coming off the lily pads fishing for bass and both being medium size. I tend to fish the upper reaches of the pond... love to fish the pads! I rarely travel the lower portion of the pond where I have seen folks trolling and live-lining bait. One memorable experience was I saw a mother duck with 4-5 ducklings swimming along at Farrington when there was an explosion and a loss on one duckling...AWESOME nature at work...guess it was a pike? I have caught more pike at Spruce Run than Farrington, both of which I have not specifically targeted pike, just bass fishing. |

Re: Farrington Lake Report
I just moved right across the street from Farrington. Think I'm gonna grab the kayak and do a little recon after work.
Yes, there are a lot of pike in there. My buddy pulled a 36"er through the ice in Feb. |
