Default Shimano Reel service

I called Shimano this morning to send an older Shimano Stratic 2000 reel in for service. I was told by customer service that they will not service the reel and I should basically toss it out and buy a new one. I am outraged by Shimano's policy and by the poor customer service in their company. I own over 30 Shimano reels and this is the reward you get from using their products.

Shimano's support and attitude has always sucked, even if you speak to them at the shows, I don't even stop by their booths

I am having the reel serviced locally. (If they can find the parts) I have been contacted by Shimano. Not to repair the reel, but to tell them the name of the employee whom told me to toss it and buy another. They seem more interested in punishing an employee instead of serving the customer. I like their products but can I continue to support a company with such poor regard for their customers. I know Penn has turned to the dark side as well. so who's left?

Reelseat in Brielle is an excellent place to deal with any Shimano reel.

I to used to use Shimano. They feel that their sh$t don’t stink. May switch to either Okuma or Fin-Nor

Took 3 plus months for a friend to get his reels back from shimano this summer/fall. They apologized and stated they were having a tough time finding reliable service people. In all honesty, it is hard to find hard working reliable people these days.

Maybe Okuma is better theses days but everyone I ever used in the past lasted at best one season. I have a couple of older Fin-nors that have held up well.
