A Toadfish?

Tough to tell exactly from that angle because the body shapes are similar but its either an Oyster Toadfish or Stargazer.. Either one will hit a jig, but toads are more commonly caught in tidal salt water rivers and bays, while most Stargazers I have seen were caught right close to the ocean shoreline from the beach or jetties,, Never saw a Stargazer in the rivers or bay personally.. Millions of toads in the bays/rivers/canals/tidal creeks etc. Both are friggin ugly as sin with the Stargazer being even more hideous than the toads.... bob

Yup very ugly. Caught them many it the river inlets.
