And it would be at night as opposed to during the day but 5 or 6 hook rigs, multiple hook ups of ling at whiting at the same time,

They catch these fish in extremely deep water the reason is not to get so many in a hookup but to go down that deep & loose your bait a long way back without anything with just say 2 hooks. I see many of fisherman who just fish our offshore Sea Bass wreck trips & use the same amount of hooks. I personally don't like using that many hooks I only use 2 the tangles they create are not worth it. But I understand why they use them in those depths.
