I don't think its a 300hp it's 2x 150hp's.

The sea tow boats almost all have Yamaha 200's, albeit two strokes. recent model years lost the injector failure problems that plagued them. Never had filter problems- that's 6 motors with 1000's of hours.

But motors are like people. Each is a little different.

Usually you do want to run O/B's in their 3500-4000rpm sweet spot for cruising. Not 5000-6000 rpms as it destroys them very prematurely.

SO look what that sweet spot speed is and decide if you can live with 25 knots.

Of course you can run 5000-6000 on every trip out and back, and you will be looking to repower a lot sooner than you'd like too.

HIs boat weighs in at about 5k !
Plus three & gear runs forties top end, so in my opinion that engine would be plenty!
