Run and Gun / Get a couple each pass and then they are gone or somewhere else. Amount of triggers in NJ inshore grounds are plentiful and aggressive

Makes sense... I only fished on party boats for Blues a few times, usually when the boats was anchored and chumming.. Those were typically bigger blues in than the fast moving inshore fish.. The vast majority of my bluefishing was exactly as you described really. In my own boat, running to within casting range of diving birds, catch a few, birds disappear, and then you spot them again 1/2 mile up or down the beach, and you run to them again and start casting. Back then, most party boats didn;t run and gun.. They went further offshore and chummed keeping the fish closer to the boat, and were not getting mugged by 100 16 foot boats... I imagine things are just very different today.. I suppose each year I forget more of the things I did in my 50 or so years fishing at the Jersey shore.
