If you're going to hook and split ring swap, buy yourself a small digital scale. Weigh the stock trebles and split ring and do your best to match that weight with the single inlines and split rings you are putting on.

Adding or decreasing weight will impact action, how a lure floats or sinks, and how deep or shallow a lure will run when being retrieved vs it's stock design.

I do a substantial amount of hook and split ring swaps on SP minnows, cotton cordells and other plugs. Daiwa rep told me they upgraded their stock trebles but they still look flimsy as shit to me. I also file down the barbs on my trebles bc I fish a lot at night. A lot easier to dehook a fish, or yourself, with no barbs. Single inlines are also nice too. No fear of a rogue treble burying in your hand or leg when reaching for a fish at night.
